After May Holidays the profit of Omsk travel market players decreased by 15-20% comparing to the last season, BK-rating reported.
Representatives of regional travel agencies, interviewed by a BANKO correspondent, explain the decrease in demand by the following factors. Firstly, few days off and a working week between May 1st and Victory Day did not allow Russian people to plan their holidays abroad. Secondly, experts point out ‘local’ reasons for the decreased demand. ‘Many tourists from Omsk went to Turkey, Egypt and other resorts in winter – many companies in Omsk did not work in January due to cold weather and snowfalls that allowed people to take their annual leaves. Besides, tours were less expensive than in summer', explained Maxim Sevastianov, Director of Travel MARKET.
Furthermore, a BANKO correspondent found out that the first charter fight to Turkey from Omsk in season 2006 was launched on April 30th. Ekaterina Denisova, the Head of Charter Department of Pegas Touristik, confirmed that the aircraft landed in Samara to take more tourists. At the moment Pegas do not plan to increase the frequency of charter flights from Omsk to Turkey – they operate one flight every ten days. Letour Travel Company also organizes charter flights from Omsk to Turkey. However, they withheld comments on the aircraft load.
