When Will Windjet Fly?

The situation is not clear with the launch of Moscow – Forli – Moscow flights by Windjet. You may recall from earlier news bulletins that initially the airline planned to launch a charter program in December 2005. The only result that followed was a decision to fly from Domodedovo instead of Vnukovo. According to press release of EAST LINE, March 8th was announced to be a day of the first flight. However, the launch was again postponed. On March 6th a BANKO correspondent contacted the information service of Domodedovo. The correspondent found out that upon the current flight schedule Windjet starts flying from Moscow on March 22nd. This information was confirmed in EAST LINE Press Service, having added that Windjet was an initiator of the change. Travel market players consider the unsolved issue regarding the allocation of electronic tickets to be one of the main reasons. Windjet tried to solve this problem by means of agreement with Transport Clearing Company. However, according to the unaccredited sources no agreement has been made. ‘It is possible to negotiate with Transport Clearing Company but it will take several months. Therefore, the company still does not have either tariffs or sales system’, stated Evgenia Konkol, General Director of Spectrum Travel Company. The BANKO correspondent found out that there are no companies specializing in the Italian market that work with Windjet – lack of interest to flights to Forli travel market players explain by alternative flights to the destination. Rosa Vetrov and Ital Travel pointed out that flights to Rimini are enough. The only factor, which could attract operators’ attention is low tickets cost comparing to rates offered by other Airline Companies. Marina Nikitenko, the Head of Italian Department of PAC Group, commented as follows: ‘at the moment we are not informed about either prices or terms of cooperation, therefore we can’t know whether the cooperation will be profitable for us’.
