The most part of Europe is overwhelmed by Arctic cyclone, which brought cold weather and massive snowfalls. In some European countries, for example, Germany, Chezc Republic, Romania, Poland it was announced about cases of death by frostbites. In Italy snowfalls affected the work of airports. However, according to travel market experts, cold weather in Europe does not have an adverse effect on tourist traffic. PR Director of Inna Tour, Svetlana Kurkovich explained that excursion tours to Italy do not at all depend on weather.
Nelly Ionkina, Director of Ital Travel added: ‘we also do not have problems with sales at the moment. There is a small decrease in sales but it is dictated by the season not cold weather. We had much more problems due to AlItalia strike. For example, yesterday we received a phone call from out tourist from Rome, who had to change the flight and fly with Aeroflot instead of AlItalia eventually’.
Furthermore, experts do not forecast future drop in demand. They say that the weather in Moscow is not better and therefore tourists who choose Europe as their travel destination do not lose much.
Meanwhile, tour operators estimate the situation on skiing resorts as follows: ‘Bad weather in a city means good weather in the mountains. It is the season for skiing at the moment and we would experience difficulties in case of warmer weather’, commented Commercial Director of Jet Travel, Maxim Pristavko.
