[IMG=18797-4430] On the 12th of January an aircraft Il-86 of ‘ВАСО’ airline was broken at Colombo airport. 320 passengers staying in the country from the 2nd of January were going back to Russia by the flight. According to preliminary data, technical fault of the engine became the reason for the wreck. This fact was confirmed to a ‘BANKO’ correspondent in the airline office. It is planned that a reserved aircraft will transport the tourists at 10 a.m. local time on the 13th of January. According to Pavel Muturov, Director of ‘Spark Group’, a consolidator of the program, all the tourists were accommodated in hotels. ‘We provided accommodation at our own expenses. Later we will settle all financial issues with the airline’, said Pavel Muturov. According to Tatiana Vand , General Director of 'Vand International Tour' which had bought tickets for the flight, there were no claims regarding the wreck from tourists and agencies, except for some information about passports. ‘The airport asked the tourists to leave their passports and gave them special cards. Passports are supposed to be given back before leaving the country. It is a normal practice in such situations. But one of the tourists made a call to the consul who most probably understood the tourist wrongly and said the airport had no right to ask them to give passports. This information was received at the beginning of the incident and the problem was soon resolved’, explained Tatiana Vand. Faulty aircraft will return to Russia after repair. On the same day there was one more news item regarding aircraft engine wreck. Airbus 320 of Cyprus Airways, flying from Larnaka to Moscow, made an emergency landing in Athens. According to flight schedule it lands at Sheremetievo airport at 3.25 p.m. Moscow time. A representative of Cyprus Airways said that the passengers will be transported to Moscow by a different flight and will arrive to Sheremetievo at 10 p.m.
