From the 28th of December ‘Aeroflot’ launches one more flight to Havana in addition to two everyday flights. Before the New Year ‘Transaero’ announced direct everyday flight to Varadero. These facts will most probably cause dumping of tickets prices for after New Year holidays.
‘There will be too many flights to Cuba, there should be at least one plane fewer. We were lucky to fill one ‘Aeroflot’ flight on the 11th of January at the original prices. Obviously, most travel companies want to sell Cuba but four flights per week for this destination are too many. I think most of them will have to sell tours at ticket prices – you can notice this tendency even now. But it is not a business in a proper sense of the word’, said Vladimir Romanov, General Director of ‘Caribbean Club’.
Other experts agree with him on this issue. According to Ksenia Ogienko, tourism director of the company, there was a shortage of tickets to Cuba until recently but after New Year the market will be overwhelmed with offers at dumping prices as supply is out of proportion to demand’.
‘Certainly it is possible to take some advantages over the new flights. For example, on the basis of ‘Aeroflot’ flights excursion tours to Havana and standard tours to Varadero or Dominican Republic can be organized. ‘Transaero’ flight is already higher in price than Dominican Republic tours. The only advantage of this flight is that tourists arrive directly to the beach. Many people, traveling that far from home, prefer to have excursions in addition to beach time but excursions can not be organized in Varadero. I personally expect dumping prices for Cuba for the whole January. At the moment it is difficult to make any further forecasts’, said Tatiana Vand, director of ‘Vand International Tour’.
