Abundant snowfalls in Moscow caused few difficulties in the work of Moscow airports, but even this did not considerably affect their work or flight schedule. As a Banko correspondent discovered, the only exception was re-routing of 5 flights from Vnukovo to Domodedovo on the night of the 21st of December.
According to Svetlana Fufaeva, a member of the staff at the press-service of Domodedovo, airport works in normal mode. Reception and departure of flights is carried out strictly by schedule, only 10-15 minute delays are possible, caused by the work of de-icing machinery.
Sheremetievo is not worried because of the snowfall either. In the press-service of the airport it was explained that snow-removal machinery on the landing field works without increasing of staff.
The inflow of tourists caused by the New Year holidays is also taken calmly. This way, from the 24th of December 2005 till the 15th of January 2006 only Domodedovo plans to service over 700 thousand passengers which is approximately 20% more than for the similar period the previous year. Nevertheless, the airport believes that people should worry about possible queues and other similar inconveniences. ‘The airport is ready to accept and provide services for a large number of passengers, any special measures are not necessary’, the press-service of the airport reported.
Similar reassurance was announced by Sheremetievo and Vnukovo.
