Some choose Dombay, some choose Polyana

[IMG=18638-4213] Selling of ski mountain resorts of Russia for the New Year and vacations are practically completed. According to market participants, almost all tours to Krasnaya Polyana with accommodation in the resort were sold in November. Now tourists-skies have a possibility to stay mainly in Adler and other regions of Sochi. After the tunnel was opened, thanks to which the transfer from the seaside became faster and attracted tourists’ interest although not as visible as it was expected by operators. ‘Mountain skiing is usually popular with well-off people who prefer to pay more and live next to ski lifts. A trip even from the nearest Adler will take not less than 40 minutes’, explains Olga Belyaeva, deputy head of the Russian department of ‘Express Line’. Krasnaya Polyana is looking forward to the snow and the opening of skiing season. According to weather forecasts, the desirable precipitations are expected to fall by weekends. Literally in several days mountains can be covered by the sufficient snow cover, believe experts. However, for clients who choose short New Year tours, skiing is the basic factor – the atmosphere of celebrating New Year in the mountains. It is partly confirmed by the fact that even in spite of the lack of snow, groups of tourists go to the resort. Yet some operators had to alter their plans. ‘We were going to open the heli-ski season in Krasnaya Polyana in the middle of December, now we moved this event to Cheget’, - reported Alexey Gorshenin, general director of ‘Vertical world’. As for Dombay and Prielibrusie, tourists are already actively skiing there. ‘At the moment there are flights for inconvenient dates only, say, from the 7th till the 14th of January. And everybody wants to return home before the 10th and it does not worth going there for 3 days as the transfer from the airport takes a long time and there is no time left for skiing. Yet during this and next weeks these programs will be sold as well’, strongly believes Elena Savchenko, senior manager of mountain skiing in Russia at ‘Rose of winds’. It looks like the demand is also encouraged by the fact that prices for Russian ski mountain packages did not considerably grow this season – by 10-15%.
