On the Egyptian destination the seasonal decline of sales (see news as of 29.11), which began in November, is now well under way. ‘The demand for Egypt is presently very small, the offers are almost funny, only ‘as a back-up’: blocks in hotel and planes are already paid for and nobody needs them to be empty. And this spoils tourists’, - Gennadiy Kosarev, general director of Fresh Travel, expressed the total mood on the market. Discounts are really impressive, reaching up to 40% of the tour package cost. For instance, the week tour with a flight on the 17th of December, with a stay in a 4* HB hotel presently is available for less than $300, compared to November when a similar trip cost around $500.
The period of the sale, as forecasted by specialists, will last till the 20th of December. ‘This repeats the situation of the last year – everyone will start selling from December 27. Those who want to spend a New Year in Egypt, go on the 28th, 29th of December, no one buys the tours earlier.’ – noted Maya Mostovaya, head of the Egyptian department in ‘Skyway’. At the same time, operators mark a good demand for vacation dates. ‘Trips with flights from the 1st till the 5th of January are almost closed. Many prefer celebrating New Year with family at home and go on holidays in January’, says Gennadiy Kosarev. He also added that the next Egyptian clearance sales after the holidays – from the 15th of January till the 1st of February.
