On the 8th of December an online-broadcast was virtually carried out under the logo ‘Striding merrily together: the role and activity of travel associations?’, Pavel Klark, a chairman of administration of Moscow association of tourist agency (MATA) participated in the discussion. The online-broadcast was hosted by Alexander Preobrazhenskiy (‘Shop of travels’).
Judging from the questions, the site visitors were most interested in what kind of useful activity and whose interests do tourist associations have, in particular, MATA. Mr. Klark replied: ‘Our activity is based on the problems raised by travel firms – members of the association. Their activities influence the activity of most associations. If a tourist company entered the public organisation, paid the fee, hung a membership certificate on the wall and shows it to its client, saying that they are members of RST – Russia is with us, members of the MATE – Moscow is with us, than there would not be much effect. We have a limited amount of active directors, who has time for public activity. They form the team of any associations. These people will never say that association is not needed, that we are paying the fee in vain’. Associations lobbies interests of the travel business, raise the professional level of travel firms’ employees, in ideal they form standards for the client service, define the industry code of honour.
