Tsunami caused a case in the court

[IMG=18529-4126] Almost a year has passed since tsunami hit the countries of South-East Asia. Meantime, consequences of the catastrophe still affect the activity of travel firms. For example, on the 6th of December Natalia Sevastiyanova, commercial director of ‘Idol-Tours’ told BANKO that from the moment of devastating events it cannot resolve the financial situation with ‘Bureau South Cross’. According to Ms. Sevastiyanova, four tourists from her company were to go to Phuket through the operator and paid the total sum of around $10 thousand for packages, but the catastrophe happened at that moment and the flights were cancelled. ‘However, our clients wanted to leave on holidays straight away, so two of them paid once again for a trip in the other country, and we compensated the money for the other two tourists from ouw own pocket. For its side, the ‘South Cross’ promised to compensate these expenses after teh New Year with the deduction of the cost of visas’, - said Natalia Sevastiyanova. However, according to the commercial director of ‘Idol-tours’, the operator returned only part of the money for plane tickets in the amount of approximately $4 thousand, yet operator offered to compensate the rest of the money at cross-cancellation of debts. At the end of November, according to Ms. Sevastiyanova, two tourists, whose plans were cancelled by tsunami, returned to ‘Idol-tours’ to book New Year holidays in china, but ‘South cross’ allegedly ‘confirmed the reservation and then suddently cancelled them without explanations’. In the result, Natalia Sevastianova plans to go to law against the operator. On the other hand, Andrey Kusnetsov, general director of ‘South Cross’ sees the situation differently. ‘We did everything right, according to our obligations. Our company always take care of tourist and agents, and we have resolves all questions, connected to tsunami. In the case with ‘Idol-tours’ therea re small difficulties, but they are easy to solve, and we prefer to discuss this problem with the general director of the company’, - commented Mr. Kusnetsov to a BANKO correspondent. We note that at that moment of writing the article the general director of ‘Idol tours’ was not available for comments as she was in Paris. As for lawyer, they do not hurry to give the final opinion on the situation as well as forecast the possible court. ‘Arbitrate court will deal with the case if the agency submits all documents confirming the payments for tourists as wella s correspondence with a n operator in relation to the financial situation. Yet in any case it is possible to judge who is right and who is wrong after the careful study of all details’, believes Anastasia Andreeva, a specialist from ‘Persona grata’ company‘.
