Prices for tours to France will not drop due to disorder. Such opinion was expressed by the participants of online-broadcast on the topic ‘Paris: what is being done for safety of tourists?’ which was held on Thursday, 10 November, in a forum of professional travel portal www.tourdom.ru. David Morton, a director of the French representative office of tourism, as well as Irina Gubanova, director of the French destination at ‘Rose of winds’ Tours, Svetlana Kurkovich, director of the destination at ‘Inna Tour’ and Evgenia Goncharova – director of the destination at DSBW discussed the issue.
In the beginning of the discussion experts of the online-broadcast mentioned that in spite of sensationalism in mass media, the atmosphere in Paris and France is quite calm and there is nothing to worry about for clients of travel firms. What is more, many tourists find out about disorder only when they come back to Russia, on the news. ‘In the programs of our clients there are no changes. All excursions including those connected with transportation around the country are carried out on pre-planned schedule’, says Svetlana Kurkovich. David Morton added: ‘In the centre of Paris next to the Louvre and other tourist places cars were not burnt, our partners in Nice say that their clients have holidays as usual’.
Also participants of the program noted that the number of cancellations is very small, agencies and their clients address to operating companies with one request: to explain the situation. So we are not talking yet about reestablishment of demand and attracting new clients.
Nevertheless, experts gave several practical pieces of advice, in particular, to whom tourists should address if they were affected by the disorder. ‘In emergency cases they can get shelter in the Russian Consulate and get help to return home’, explained Evgenia Goncharova.
