Travel agencies that became victims of 'Premier Travel Agency' fall (see the News for 10/14-17) are counting on the help of higher powers. On October 18th BANKO Information Service got a call from Oksana Solovyova, director of 'Deni-2000' company. She said that not long before recent events started she paid $1,000 for 2 tourists that were going to Hammamet on October 27th. 'I'll collect all the receipts and hand in an application to militia,' told Ms. Solovyova to a BANKO reporter. As was already told in previous news issues, at least two more agencies handed in applications to Internal Affairs office of Moscow Central District. On October 17th Gennadiy Kucha, BANKO IS operative team reporter, went to IAO CD with heads of 2 agencies and saw them go into room 114 for circumstance clarification. According to the information board, Sergey Lavygin works in that room.
On the next day, October 18, BANKO reporter called IAO. He was able to confirm that Sergey Lavygin was in charge of 'Premier Travel Service' case. Mr. Lavygin answered the phone but did not remember that agents came to him the day before. The militiaman told that ‘no applications concerning ‘Premier Travel Service’ came in’. He added that BANKO should ‘send official letter to investigation department’. At the moment BANKO Information Service is preparing an inquiry for law-enforcement institutions.
Meanwhile lawyers believe that agents’ chances to get back their money are fifty-fifty. ‘When such situation arises agents must surely turn to militia and court,’ says Anastasiya Andreeva from ‘Persona Grata’ agency claims department. ‘Until ‘Premier Travel Service’ hands a bankruptcy application to arbitration tribunal, it is obliged to recover losses. But the question arises concerning conditions necessary for this procedure: militia must find head of the company in the first place. Only of they are successful, judicial decision will be issued that case will be entertained.‘
